The LeaderLab Program is a two-year program designed to empower young adults from challenging places to become Powerful Leaders.
A Powerful Leader knows the truth about who they are and their value. A Powerful Leader is resilient and confident. They live in a world of possibilities, they function from character, and they know what healthy relationships look like because they relate with others in a healthy way.
This resilience and confidence can be measured through three areas: job skills, leadership skills, and resiliency. These three areas will work together to expand possibilities, cultivate character, and restore relationships.
Our 3 Program Focuses
FOCUS #1: EXPANDING POSSIBILITIES THROUGH JOB SKILLS
Our LeaderLab Leaders-in-Training work in the screen printing industry. In this industry the LITs have the unique opportunity to have a part in the entire process of making t-shirts, including but not limited to graphic design, screen printing, and business management. They not only learn hands-on skills for the job, but they also learn to work as a team, set and accomplish personal goals, and learn skills that are transferable to other industries they may be interested in.
FOCUS #2: CULTIVATING THE CHARACTER OF A LEADER
Emotional Intelligence has been found to be one of the most important pieces of leadership. Emotional Intelligence refers to:
the ability to recognize the emotions of oneself and others,
the ability to distinguish accurately and consistently between different emotions,
the ability to use emotional understanding to guide one’s choices and actions, and
the capacity to modify or manage feelings in order to achieve a goal or as a part of adaptation to a particular environment.
FOCUS #3: RESTORING RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH RESILIENCE
Resilience is a character trait that can be learned and cultivated. One of the goals of this program is to create environments in which LITs feel safe, accepted, and valued. Another goal is to train and empower LITs to enhance relationships they already have and possibly develop new ones that will strengthen them personally and relationally and enhance their leadership skills and opportunities. A third goal is to identify and change any negative thoughts and beliefs that LITs may be holding which are working against their ability to be a Powerful Leader.
Our LITs can expect to gain the following from the LeaderLab Program:
Paid Part-Time Job
Empowering Work Environment
Leadership Skills Training
Job Skills Training
Resilience Skills Training
Personally Tailored Portfolio
Interpersonal Skill Development
